Medical Assisting

 

 

Graduates of the medical assisting program can secure employment in medical offices or ambulatory clinics.  In the State of Maine, medical assistants work under the direction of health care providers.  Upon graduation, students are eligible to sit for several different credentialing exams. Students are eligible to sit for the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) national certification exam through the American Association of Medical Assisting www.aama-ntl.org, and the Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) exam through the American Medical Technologies (AMT) http://americanmedtech.org/medical-assistant. There are several other exams students are eligible to sit for as well. 83% of students who graduated between the years 2018-2022 passed their certification exam and are now credentialed Medical Assistants.

The Medical Assisting Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs upon recommendation of the Medical Assisting Education Review Board.

For the years 2018-2022 NMCC graduated 59 students from the medical assisting program. Of those 59 students, 53 or 90% of them have secured a job in medical assisting, a related field, or continued their education in healthcare. Employers of those graduates report a 100% satisfaction rate with the skills and knowledge possessed by those NMCC graduates.
